Geoffrey D. Harcourt

Geoffrey D. Harcourt is a British industrial designer best known for his long-standing collaboration with Dutch furniture manufacturer Artifort, where he created a range of iconic lounge chairs that blend comfort with sculptural form. Beginning his work with Artifort in the 1960s, Harcourt’s designs often feature bold, modern silhouettes and ergonomic attention to the seated body, making them both visually striking and invitingly functional.

One of his most celebrated pieces is the F510 swivel chair, part of a broader series that showcases his ability to fuse sleek, futuristic aesthetics with the cozy appeal of upholstered seating. Harcourt was particularly influential in developing office and contract furniture that maintained strong design character without sacrificing practicality. His work reflects a modernist sensibility tempered by soft forms and user-centered thinking, and it continues to be produced and admired worldwide.
