Marco Zanuso

Marco Zanuso was a prominent Italian architect and designer who played a key role in shaping postwar modern design through his innovative use of materials, industrial production techniques, and user-centered philosophy. Born in 1916, Zanuso was one of the leading figures of Italian modernism and a pioneer in designing for the emerging consumer culture of the mid-20th century. His collaboration with engineer Richard Sapper led to iconic products like the “Lambda” chair and the “TS502” radio for Brionvega, which combined sleek aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. Zanuso's work was characterized by clean lines, bold forms, and a deep commitment to functionalism without sacrificing visual appeal. As a professor and theorist, he also significantly influenced design education and thought, making him a foundational figure in the evolution of industrial design.
