Paolo Piva

Paolo Piva was an Italian architect and designer renowned for his sleek, modern aesthetic and deep understanding of both form and function. Born in Adria in 1950, he studied architecture in Venice and gained early recognition for his interest in industrial design and urban planning. Piva's work is characterized by its refined minimalism, structural clarity, and attention to detail, often exploring the intersection of architecture and furniture design. He is best known for his collaborations with leading Italian brands such as B&B Italia, Poliform, and Wittmann, where he created iconic pieces like the Alanda coffee table and Alanda sofa. In addition to his design work, Piva was a respected academic and served as a professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. His legacy continues through designs that combine precision, elegance, and a timeless modernist sensibility.
