Bernhardt design is a contemporary furniture brand that evolved from the Bernhardt Furniture Company in 1980, when the company decided to venture to new markets. The Bernhardt Furniture Company was founded in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt, and functioned as a local woodworking business. Today, the family-owned business is led by the fourth generation of Bernhardts. They are successful in countless ways, one of which had to do with partnering with Ross Lovegrove and creating the first magnesium chair, the Go Chair. Along with making quality furniture, the Bernhardt Furniture Company are committed to the welfare and strengthening of the local community. Their roots began in woodworking, but the Bernhardt design has mastered new technologies and other innovative ways in making modern furniture.
